The seven-hotel shortlist
This is a researched shortlist, not a claim that Tourism.ph personally inspected every room. We checked current first-party location, room, facility, and policy information, then selected properties that solve meaningfully different Siargao trips. A hotel is included for a clear traveler fit—not for paying a higher commission.
Rates, packages, and operating details change. Relative price tiers describe the usual position within Siargao, not a promised nightly price. Enter every guest, compare the identical room and rate conditions, and confirm island systems before payment.
| Property | Area | Best for | Published room signal | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nay Palad Hideaway | Malinao | All-inclusive, high-service escape | Garden villas for up to 6; four-bedroom Perlah Villa for up to 9 | Very high total price and little reason to use General Luna daily |
| Siargao Bleu Resort & Spa | Cloud 9 / Catangnan | Full resort near surf | Rooms and villas, spa, yoga, restaurant, and surf-coast position | Not central General Luna; exact room details need live confirmation |
| Kalinaw Resort | Near Cloud 9 | Couples wanting a private pool | Six ocean-facing villas; published villa categories include private infinity pools | Premium villa pricing and a small inventory |
| Siago Beach Resort | Central General Luna | Design-led beachfront and walkable food | Suites, rooms, and separate villas on Tourism Road | Central energy and shoreline conditions require room-specific checks |
| Bravo Beach Resort | Central General Luna | Social stay, couples, or four friends | Queen rooms, up-to-3 Double Room, and four-bed Surf Shack | Restaurant and social atmosphere may not suit light sleepers |
| The Henry Resort at Kermit | General Luna | Surf program and established social base | Rooms for 2, 3, and 4 plus pool use | Hotel and restaurant energy rather than secluded beach calm |
| Ocean 101 Beach Resort | Cloud 9 / Catangnan | Practical surf-first location | Pool, beachfront setting, and multiple room types | A Cloud 9 base, not central General Luna nightlife |
Quick picks by traveler
Choose the pair that fits the daily routine, then compare exact rooms. A lower rate in Malinao is not equivalent to a central General Luna room when every meal needs a ride; a premium all-inclusive price is not comparable with a room-only card.
| Traveler priority | Start with | Compare against | Question that decides it |
|---|---|---|---|
| No-planning luxury | Nay Palad | Kalinaw | Do you want activities and dining bundled or a private villa base? |
| Cloud 9 every morning | Siargao Bleu | Ocean 101 | Are spa and full resort facilities worth the premium? |
| Private-pool couple | Kalinaw | Nay Palad Garden Villa | Will you use General Luna often or stay at the property? |
| First-time central stay | Siago | Bravo | Is a polished beachfront setting or social value more important? |
| Friends sharing one room | Bravo Surf Shack | Kermit Quadruple Room | Which bed, bathroom, breakfast, and noise setup works? |
| Surf program plus social base | Kermit | Ocean 101 | Do you want organized instruction or proximity to Cloud 9? |
| Family wanting room space | Nay Palad or Kermit | Bravo Surf Shack | Does the exact category legally fit every child and bed? |
Nay Palad Hideaway: the complete all-inclusive escape
Nay Palad is the outlier in both experience and price. Its official site places the hideaway in Malinao between a private Pacific-facing bay and mangrove waterways. The current villa page publishes four Garden View Villas with a maximum of six guests and one four-bedroom Perlah Villa for up to nine.
The property describes its rates as unusually comprehensive, covering dining, drinks, massages, adventures, and many activities. Older published rate material also included Sayak Airport transfers, but the live package must control: ask for an itemized inclusion list, champagne or childcare exceptions, airport coverage, surf season, minimum stay, deposit, and cancellation.
Choose Nay Palad when removing decisions and payments is the luxury. Skip it when the trip is built around General Luna restaurants and nightlife; paying an all-inclusive rate while repeatedly leaving the property defeats its strongest value.
- Best fit: honeymoon, celebration, multigenerational group, or a resort-led week
- Published strength: large villas and a deeply bundled experience
- Location tradeoff: Malinao privacy rather than walkable General Luna
- Verify: complete inclusions, transfer, child pricing, minimum stay, deposit, and refund terms
Siargao Bleu and Ocean 101: two Cloud 9 approaches
Siargao Bleu is the full-resort comparison near Cloud 9. Its official site places it on Tourism Road in Barangay Catangnan and emphasizes rooms and villas, spa treatments, daily yoga or exercise, restaurant service, and a position fronting several surf breaks. Choose it when a pool, wellness, and resort infrastructure matter alongside surf access.
Ocean 101 is the more practical Cloud 9 shortlist. Its current site describes a beachfront property with a pool, a roughly five-minute walk to the famous break, and a short ride to General Luna. Choose it when proximity and an established island-resort format matter more than a luxury spa package.
Neither address means you can safely surf Cloud 9 at any ability or tide. Ask the surf provider where lessons will run, what equipment and transport are included, and how weather cancellation works. Also confirm the current road and walking route after dark.
Kalinaw Resort: six private-pool villa choices
Kalinaw is the strongest small-villa comparison near Cloud 9. Its official site describes six ocean-front villas about 800 meters from the break, and the current villa page says each category has a bathtub, minibar, Wi-Fi, smart TV, and private infinity pool.
Published categories include Pool Deluxe, Pool Suite, and Pavilion Pool Villa, but the name alone does not prove bedroom count, child occupancy, privacy sightlines, or whether a quoted price includes breakfast and every tax. Request the exact plan and final total.
Choose Kalinaw for private-pool time, design, and a quieter couple-led stay that remains near the surf coast. A central General Luna hotel is better when spontaneous restaurants and late evenings dominate.
Siago and Bravo: central General Luna beachfront
Siago describes a beachfront position on Tourism Road in the heart of General Luna, with a freshwater pool, restaurant, suites, rooms, and villas. Its separate villas have private decks and their own rear bathroom access. This is the design-led comparison for travelers who want a polished property without giving up town access.
Bravo publishes some of the clearest room configurations in the central area: a queen-bed Garden Room, a Double Room for up to three with a convertible sofa, and a four-individual-bed Surf Shack for friends or family. Its restaurant and social identity are features for some travelers and a noise question for others.
For both, inspect the exact room position and shoreline rather than paying automatically for “beachfront.” General Luna's reef and tide affect swimming, and restaurant or road activity can make two rooms at the same property feel different.
| Check | Siago question | Bravo question |
|---|---|---|
| Room position | Main room or separate villa, and which outlook? | Garden, restaurant, road, or social area exposure? |
| Occupancy | Exact beds and maximum guests? | Does the sofa or four-bed layout fit the entered party? |
| Shoreline | What is usable for swimming at expected tide? | Is the beach the reason for the rate or only the setting? |
| Noise | Which events or nearby venues operate on the dates? | How late does restaurant or social activity continue? |
| Rate | Breakfast, taxes, deposit, transfer, cancellation? | Same inclusions, plus group bedding and lockers? |
The Henry at Kermit: room plus surf ecosystem
Kermit's accommodation now operates as The Henry Resort at Kermit Siargao. The current Kermit room page publishes a two-guest Lokal Cottage, three-guest Triple Room, and four-guest Quadruple Room; the partnership site emphasizes modern rooms and pool views while the established Kermit restaurant and surf program remain part of the environment.
Choose it when the traveler wants an organized surf-and-social base rather than a quiet beachfront resort. Kermit's published surf package includes accommodation, breakfast, and pool use on selected offers, but package dates, lesson count, transport, equipment, instructor ratio, and cancellation must be checked live.
The brand transition is exactly why the booking confirmation matters. Verify which entity holds the reservation, the building and room shown, breakfast, resort access, deposit, and where surf sessions meet.
The Siargao room and systems audit
After choosing the property, compare the exact operational product. Island power, water, internet, access, and weather can matter more than a decorative amenity list. Ask the property for current answers and use recent room-specific reviews to test them.
| Check | What to confirm | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Exact pin, entrance, road surface, walkability and night return | General Luna and Catangnan labels cover different routines |
| Room | Building, floor, beds, occupancy, terrace, pool privacy and noise | Similar category names can describe different products |
| Power | Generator coverage for air-conditioning, pumps, Wi-Fi and outlets | “Backup power” may mean only lights and fans |
| Water | Hot water, pressure, drinking refill and outage backup | A pool does not prove dependable room water |
| Internet | Provider, recent speed test, backup and workspace | A Wi-Fi icon is not work-readiness evidence |
| Surf | Break, instructor, transport, equipment, insurance and weather outcome | Cloud 9 proximity is not lesson suitability |
| Transfer | Airport or port, vehicle, bags, boards, waiting and complete fare | The room price does not reveal arrival friction |
| Final rate | Taxes, service, breakfast, deposit, currency and cancellation | The lowest card may be the least flexible product |
Our booking decision rule
Book Nay Palad when the bundled hideaway is the holiday; Siargao Bleu for full facilities near Cloud 9; Kalinaw for a private-pool villa; Siago or Bravo for walkable General Luna; Kermit for an organized surf and social ecosystem; and Ocean 101 for practical Cloud 9 proximity.
Hold a refundable room once flights are credible, then compare direct and affiliate offers for the identical category. Save the room name, occupancy, inclusions, payment, and cancellation terms that existed at checkout. Recheck before the free-cancellation deadline without trading a strong booking for a fragile small saving.
If two hotels remain tied, choose the one that eliminates the movement you will repeat most. In Siargao, that is often breakfast, surf, dinner, or the ride home after dark—not the airport transfer that happens only twice.
Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
What is the best hotel in Siargao?
There is no universal winner. Nay Palad is the complete all-inclusive luxury choice, Siargao Bleu is a full resort near Cloud 9, and Siago or Bravo are stronger for central General Luna access.
Where should first-time visitors stay in Siargao?
Most first-time visitors should start in central General Luna or near Cloud 9. Choose General Luna for restaurants and tours, or Cloud 9 when surf access is the daily priority.
Which Siargao hotel is best for couples?
Kalinaw is a strong private-pool villa comparison, Nay Palad suits a very high-end all-inclusive escape, and Siago works for couples wanting central restaurants and a designed beachfront setting.
Which Siargao hotel is best for surfing?
Ocean 101 and Siargao Bleu are useful Cloud 9 comparisons, while Kermit suits travelers wanting an organized surf program. The appropriate lesson break still depends on ability, swell, tide, and instructor judgment.
Is it worth staying beachfront in General Luna?
Only if you value the view and setting. Reef and tide can limit swimming, so verify the exact shoreline and compare the premium with a quieter inland room close to food and tours.
Should I book a Siargao hotel direct or through a comparison site?
Compare both for the same room, occupancy, meals, taxes, transfer and cancellation. Direct surf or transfer packages can add value, while comparison sites may provide a lower or more flexible rate.
