Cebu: city or coast?
Do not try to combine Cebu City, Moalboal, Oslob, Bantayan, and Bohol in a week. Cebu is a long island, and overland transfers are real travel days. For this route, base in the city and choose one deliberate outing.
Moalboal works best with two nights, not as a rushed day trip. If the sardine run is a priority, restructure the first half around Moalboal and reduce Cebu City. Avoid wildlife activities that rely on feeding or close crowding.
Cebu City in one useful day
Cluster the historic core: Basilica del Santo Niño, Magellan’s Cross, Fort San Pedro, and a museum or heritage house. Go early, dress respectfully for religious sites, then devote the evening to Cebuano food.
Allow generous traffic time if adding a hilltop viewpoint. A map distance is not a travel-time promise in Cebu.
The Cebu–Bohol ferry
Fast ferries run between Cebu City and Tagbilaran, but operators and schedules can change. Buy through an official operator or a trusted booking partner, arrive before check-in closes, and confirm baggage rules. The sea crossing is only part of the journey; add port queues and the transfer to Panglao.
For an international flight, do not rely on the last ferry of the day. Weather and mechanical disruptions happen.
Bohol countryside without checklist fatigue
A classic loop can include the Chocolate Hills, a responsibly managed tarsier sanctuary, the Loboc area, old churches, and forest roads. You do not need every roadside stop. Choose a private driver for flexibility or a small-group tour for value.
Tarsiers are nocturnal and sensitive. Keep quiet, never use flash, and follow sanctuary distance rules. The Philippine Tarsier Foundation is a useful reference when evaluating conservation-focused visits.
Panglao: choose the right beach base
Alona Beach has the most restaurants, tour desks, and activity. It can also be busy. Danao is nearby and often calmer. More remote resorts trade walkability for quiet. Read the map and recent beach-access comments before booking.
Use the final full day for a beach, diving, or a carefully selected marine tour. If boats are cancelled, you still have cafés, pools, and inland options—another reason the route works.
